I'm in Miami, bitch!

After the cold weather in New Orleans, wearing my sweater and winter coat, the warm Miami breeze was more than welcome. We were supposed to fly at 07.00, but found out the night before that it was actually 19.00. I swear, that AM & PM keeps confusing me, really. We arrived at 21.30 in Miami and were driven to the hotel by a cabdriver thinking to live GTA. I have to admit, I was a tiny little bit afraid.
Miami is mainly made up of skyscrapers, water, palm trees, expensive cars and fake boobs. Strolling along Ocean Drive there are lots of restaurants with 24/7 happy hour and 20% off the menu. "Only when you come eat now", they keep saying with a Spanish accent. Spanish is as common a language as English here. You'll easily survive in Miami speaking only Spanish.
The beach is great. It was my first time on a beach, in my bikini, in December, ever. I can't complain. I understand that people fly halfway across the world for a little sun, ow. It really gives a good feeling to swim in the warm Miami water, watching the sun set behind the skyscrapers, a week before Christmas. I'm in Miami bitch!
By now I've seen a few parts of Florida: Pensacola, Panama City, Destin, and Miami. Wonderful places to visit the beautiful white beaches and clear waters, but I wanted to see a little more. I put on my wild shoes and went alligator spotting in the everglades. I saw 'big' alligators swimming through the swamps, and baby alligators cuddling on a rock. We took a fly boat with 60 miles an hour through the high grass that make up the swamps. One string of that high grass, by the way, call the Native Americans a glade. And because it is a never-ending field of glades, it's called the Everglades. You didn't know that, did you? Neither did I. Another fun fact, alligators' gender is determined by temperature. Eggs over 89 Fahrenheit will be all males, and under 84 Fahrenheit they'll be all females.
Tomorrow I'm going to check out the Miami shopping district and spend all the money I don't have. Tomorrow night we'll meet up with the internationals that went on the Miami-Bahama's cruise to explore the night life. We might even check out club Liv. Only $75 entrance. Ok, so we might not check it out after all.
Overall, Miami has been a relaxed part of the trip, to recharge ourselves for the chaos of New York. We're flying there next Saturday the 21st. Hopefully my Christmas feeling will kick in then, because on the beach in the sun, that feeling is nowhere to be found!
I'll post some pictures when I get the chance, but until now I didn't have a computer to insert my camera's memory card. My crappy iPhone 3-camera also isn't really an option so.. It'll get there, eventually.
Happy Holidays! X
